Bossey Ladies Championship 2019 Preview & 4 to watch

Date: 14/08/19

Location: Bossey, France

Course: Association du Golf & Country Club de Bossey

Prize Fund: € 35,000

Rounds: 3

Defending Champion: Elia Folch (Spain) (-10)

The LET Access Series goes into another week of golf on their very busy 2019 calendar. This week we return to France after Annelie Sjoholm won the Anna Nordqvist Vasteras Open last week beating Swedish amateur Maja Stark by 1 shot.

The host venue this week is the Golf & Country Club de Bossey situated on the Swiss border and there is a very strong line up at one of the favorite venues of the year. Elia Folch, won the event last year shooting -10 over 3 rounds and will look to defend her title. Below we look at 4 players who could be lifting the trophy this year.

Laura Gomez Ruiz (Spain)

It has been a good year for Laura on the Access Series. She is now 2nd on the order of merit rankings after a string of good results.

She won the Montauban Ladies Open back in June and has had 4 top 10 finishes including a runner up spot in Belgium. In her last 6 starts she has finished 1,2,9,5,22nd and 3rd last week in Sweden.

There are not many points between her and Sanna Nuutinen of Finland, who currently leads the order of merit, so a good finish here could see her move to the top of the rankings. Could be the one to catch this week.

Caroline Rominger (Switzerland)

Caroline, is on a bit of a charge at the moment in the rankings and on the golf course.

2 weeks ago on the Access Series she played in the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge where she finished runner up. She was really knocking in the birdies with 14 in her closing 2 rounds of 70 and 65. Caroline, has had 4 top 15 finishes in her last 7 starts and will look to continue this run of good form this week.

She has a good record here and was 3rd here last year, 3 shots behind the winner Elia Folch, she also had a good finish in 2017 finishing in 6th. Currently 15th on this year’s order of merit and could break into the top 10 here with another good finish here.

In other news she is organizing an exciting pro am in Switzerland with a lot of top players which is coming soon as well, check out her Instagram for all the information here.

Hayley Davis (England)

Hayley, is having a very strong 2019 on the Access Series and it’s almost impossible to look at 4 players to watch without considering her at the moment. She is currently 3rd on the order of merit with 6 top 10’s this season including a 5th 2 weeks ago in the Czech Republic. She was T 3rd last week in Sweden.

Hayley, has been very consistent this year and earlier in the year qualified for the US Open. She was 42nd here last year so will look to improve on that.

Sanna Nuutinen (Finland)

Sanna, won 2 weeks ago in the Czech Republic before finishing T 3rd in Sweden last week which means she now leads the order of merit. Nuutinen, has really focused on the access series this year after missing a few cuts on the LET towards the start of the year.

Sanna, finished 5th here last year and missed the cut back in 2017. She will want to go well here to maintain her lead as she looks to win the Access Series. It all comes to an end in La Largue in October, with 5 events after this still to go.

It is hard to look past the 3 players at the top of the order of merit due to the form they are in and the consistency they have shown throughout the season. Laura, Hayley and Sanna who all played last week all finished Tied for 3rd place so this should be another great battle especially with last weeks winner Annelie Sjoholm playing as well.
