Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open Review

Charley Hull won the first tournament of the year at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi. In very wind conditions, Hull shot rounds of 67,72 and 69 to clinch victory by 1 stroke from Marianne Skarpnord of Norway.
Hull was making a rare appearance on the LET but got her season off to the best possible start. Skarpnord set the clubhouse lead at -7 needing Hull to get up and down from the Greenside bunker on 18 to clinch victory and she obliged claiming a wire to wire victory.
After her win Hull said, “I’ve practiced really, really hard over the winter and it feels great to win back on the LET, especially since I had my first pro win in Morocco five years ago. Hopefully I can get a few more wins this year and I’ve been practicing really hard so it shows that my hard work is paying off.”
After Round 1 Hull had the lead shooting -5 under par in very breezy conditions. The 22 year old from Kettering, England had a 2 shot lead over Dane Nicole Broch Larsen and Luna Sobron from Spain.
At the end of round 2 Hull was still on top by 1 shot. An even windier day really stopped the birdies rolling in, and It was fellow English Solheim Cup star Jodi Ewart Shadoff who got to within 1 shot . Ewart Shadoff made two birdies in her last three holes for a two-under 70, which tied the best round of the day with three other players, which showed how tough the conditions were.

There were late charges from Caroline Hedwall of Sweden with a 67 to finish 3rd and defending champion Aditi Ashok from India who shot a closing 66 and round of the day to finish 8th. Anne Van Dam narrowly missed out on making it 3 wins in a row and she finished T3rd on -3.
